Senior Java Consultant

Mag­no­lia is look­ing for a very strong, sea­soned & enthu­si­as­tic con­sul­tant to add full time to a stel­lar team.

You will need a broad tech­no­log­i­cal back­ground with a focus on Java Web tech­nolo­gies, and like to work as a Sub­ject Mat­ter Expert. Expe­ri­ence as a con­sul­tant – prefer­ably in the area of Web Con­tent Man­age­ment – is expect­ed.


In this posi­tion, you will:

  • Help poten­tial clients dur­ing the ini­tial prod­uct eval­u­a­tion
  • Advise cus­tomers how to suc­cess­ful­ly imple­ment their Mag­no­lia project
  • Sug­gest devel­op­ment, inte­gra­tion and deploy­ment approach­es for spe­cif­ic require­ments
  • Hold work­shops for clients
  • Man­age pro­to­typ­ing solu­tions
  • Pro­vide expert know-how on Mag­no­lia deploy­ment and sys­tem archi­tec­ture, includ­ing back­up strate­gies, load-bal­anc­ing, failover, secu­ri­ty, mul­ti-sites and gen­er­al host­ing con­fig­u­ra­tion
  • Trav­el to the client’s loca­tion to pro­vide the above ser­vices on-site.
  • Qual­i­fi­ca­tions

    The ide­al can­di­date will have a good blend of skills in both appli­ca­tions and infra­struc­ture areas.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Com­put­er Sci­ence or a relat­ed field is required. A Master’s is pre­ferred.
  • The right can­di­date will have 6 or more years of expe­ri­ence in soft­ware devel­op­ment com­pa­nies build­ing or man­ag­ing the devel­op­ment of a com­plex, com­mer­cial, enter­prise class prod­uct. Expe­ri­ence with SAAS mod­el, Web Ser­vices, etc. is a big plus.
  • Proven skills in using object-ori­ent­ed approach­es based on Java. EJB, Servlets, HTML and Javascript based UI.
  • Has expe­ri­ence in as many oper­at­ing sys­tems, appli­ca­tion servers, data­bas­es and relat­ed prod­ucts as pos­si­ble (e.g. Unix, Solaris, OSX, Win­dows; Web­sphere, Weblog­ic, Glass­fish, Tom­cat, JBoss; Ora­cle, MySQL, SQL Serv­er etc.)
  • At least one sig­nif­i­cant stint in a mature engi­neer­ing orga­ni­za­tion build­ing pack­aged prod­ucts at lead­ing engi­neer­ing com­pa­nies required. Expe­ri­ence in a fast paced start­up envi­ron­ment with short, quick prod­uct life cycles very desir­able.
  • Excel­lent tech­ni­cal, prob­lem solv­ing, and com­mu­ni­ca­tions skills.
  • Must be a great team play­er and a high­ly moti­vat­ed self-starter.
  • Expe­ri­ence in Inter­net tech­nolo­gies: HTTP, HTML, XML, web serv­er, serv­er-side Java and Data­bas­es.
  • Can­di­dates must be lit­er­ate and flu­ent in Eng­lish. Flu­en­cy in Ger­man, Span­ish or anoth­er lan­guage would be an advan­tage.
  • A strong com­mit­ment to time­lines and deliv­er­ables.
